The Hagrid-playing actor, Robbie Coltrane, died on 14th October 2022. His agent Belinda Wright stated that the Harry Potter actor passed away at the Forth Valley Royal Hospital located in Larbert, Scotland.

Sources that he had been ill for over two years. Prior to that, he was confined to a wheelchair in March 2019 owing to osteoarthritis. Coltrane had been unable to walk due to the extremity of his pain in the knees.

Robbie Coltrane was born Anthony Robert McMillan on 30th March 1950 in Rutherglen, Scotland. The 72-years-old actor was the son of father Ian Baxter McMillan and mother Jean Ross Howie. His father was a general practitioner and a part-time forensic police surgeon while his mother was a teacher and a pianist.

Robbie’s other family members include an elder sister Anne and a younger sister Jane. He was the great-grandson of Thomas W. Howie, a Scottish businessman and the nephew of Forbes Howie.
