EURO 2024 – On free TV: The last DFB test games before the European Football Championship GuardianMagazines


Shortly before the start of the European Football Championship there are two test matches for the German national team against Ukraine and Greece. Two channels broadcast the games on free TV.

National coach Julian Nagelsmann and the nominated 25-man squad (without Aleksandar Pavlovic, who was absent at short notice) are currently in Gravenburch to prepare for the upcoming two international matches in France (March 23rd on ZDFkick-off: 9 p.m.) and against the Netherlands (March 26th on RTL, kick-off: 8:45 p.m.). The last test matches before the tournament will take place on June 3rd in Nuremberg against Ukraine and on June 7th against Greece in Mönchengladbach.

DFB test games on Erste and RTL

In the summer, Das Erste will broadcast the game against Ukraine, against whom the DFB selection last played its 1,000th international match in the summer of 2023. The kick-off in the Max Morlock Stadium takes place at 8:45 p.m. A week before the opening game against Scotland, the dress rehearsal against the 2004 European champions is on RTL. The game will also kick off at 8:45 p.m. in Borussia Park. In the group phase, the German national team will meet Scotland (June 14th), Hungary (June 19th) and Switzerland (June 23rd).

National coach Julian Nagelsmann said about the last test games before the final round: “With a view to the European Championships and our group opponents, we have to prepare for different playing styles and systems. Ukraine and Greece are two strong, passionate teams – we’ve had our problems with opponents of this type recently. That’s why these two teams are exactly the right tests after the upcoming duels with the strong top nations France and Netherlands. The hot phase of the European Championship begins with these games at the latest, and we’re all looking forward to that.”
